Chesterton National Tour

John Walker began portraying Chesterton in 2017.
After leaving the professional world of acting in theatre, film and TV for reasons of faith which conflicted with the immorality of the entertainment industry, in 2015 and taking over a dilapidated old monastery farm, (running retreats and farming) I began write a one man show on Chesterton, “The Golden Key.”
I had no idea where that project would lead when I started, but after surrendering the project to God, I began to write.



When directs your role
Completely unexpectedly I was hired by EWTN, with whom I had no connection, to play Chesterton on “Saints vs. Scoundrels” in a two part episode.

Swept away on God’s river
During filming of “Saints vs. Scoundrels” producers began coming into the studio to watch the day to day production work.
Completely by surprise I was asked if I had created any other project portraying Chesterton.
Telling them about my one man show, suddenly plans were made to film that as a special presentation for EWTN.

By the Grace of God
“The Golden Key” was created in a 90 minute on man show, and aired the following year.

God laughs while we make plans
But what I thought was the conclusions of the journey was just the beginning.

Holy direction
As I began my career teaching at Franciscan University of Steubenville, without warning I sought after for lectures on Chestertonian topics and live Chesterton performances. EWTN turned my one man show into a regular series, “Chesterton Station”, the University asked for a book on my journey to G.K., and the idea of touring Chesterton was born.

Offerings
• An evening Chesterton, 45 to 60 minutes. Including a talk in a Chesterton performance recounting the journey of his life; including but not limited to, his childhood, conversion, struggles, career, writings, philosophy, etc.
• A talk on my story 45 to 60 minutes, how I came to this Chesterton ministry, my conversion, surrendering to Gods will for your life in the midst of struggles, the journey from Hollywood film and television actor to Franciscan University and Chesterton.

The mission of Encounter Chesterton is simply expressed in bringing people to Christ through Chesterton by displaying the man behind the words, with all his wit, wisdom, vulnerability, humility, weakness, sorrow, tragic personal struggles, gratitude and joy.
